Laying a Foundation for Prayer

Passages instruct on Exhortation, Testimony, Example, Waiting, Watching, and Praying.

All are from King James Version.

Colossians 1:3  - We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you..

Philippians 1:3-4 - I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy.

1 Timothy 2:8  - I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting

1 Thessalonians 5:16-17  - Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing.

Colossians 1:9  - For this cause we also, since the day we  heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in al wisdom and spiritual understanding.

Luke 21:36  - Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Matthew 6:6 - But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Ephesians 1:16 - I cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;

Ephesians 6;18 - Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

1 Thessalonians 1:2 - We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

1 Thessalonians 3:10 - Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

Luke 2:36-37 - And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

1 Timothy 5:5 - Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

James 5:13 - Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.  Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

James 5;17 - 18 - Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.  And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

Acts 6:4 - But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
